Contest Outline and General Information

Colorado State BBQ Championship in Craig, Colorado

Barbeque chefs can compete for a chance at a $3,000 grand prize in the Colorado State BBQ Championships in Craig, Colorado. The annual event is scheduled for August 2-4, 2012, at Loudy-Simpson Park.

Chefs compete in four meat classes: chicken, ribs, pork and brisket. Competitors and attendees alike enjoy the live music, various vendors and beautiful scenery that comes with a visit to Craig and the BBQ Championships.

Moffat County is located in the rolling hills and high plains of the Western Slope of the Colorado Rockies about 50 miles west of the continental divide. Craig is at an elevation of 6,185 feet. The town is home to about 9,000 people and a number of quaint shops and restaurants in historic downtown.
